2008 Event Reports

AZIMGHUR STAGES RALLY Sat 12th July

We had decided to do this event because we thought it would be a good idea to get the feel of the car on tarmac. The venue was held at Colerne Airfield on the A420 Chippenham to Bristol Road, ideal for us as it was only 45 minutes away, so no overnight expenses just a really early morning start.

Colerne Airfield is a superb place to test the car, very smooth tarmac and very fast, unfortuantely anti-lag was prohibited so we were not able to use the car to it's full potential. The event is not part of any of the championships that we are contending so, we were not looking for results just time in the car. Settings were the first priority to play around with, and after a few adjustments we were soon happy with the handling. Tyre choice also played a big part throughout the day, swapping and changing after each stage as the weather was a little unpredictable.

Single venue rallies are completely different to the usual gravel events that we are more comfortable with, and also the tarmac events we usually compete are the likes of the Ulster Rally and the Isle of Man where they use closed roads.

Unfortunately for Julie, the day did not run as smooth, she was suffering with severe sickness and was getting worse as the day went on. Although stocked with sickness bags, and thankfully not wearing a full face helmet an extremely brave Julie continued where as most would have given up. On the final stages of the day it did all get a bit to much, 3 splits on one stage is hard enough to call on a good day and fair play to Julie, talk about multi-tasking, she managed to get us through with hand signals as well as trying to call the splits inbetween all the choking..

We were both glad to have finished, Julie was exhausted and looking very pale, but well done to her for sheer determination and commitment. We are all extremely very proud of you....

Despite Julie's sickness the day was trouble free, but eventfull, spirits were high amongst the Team and a successfull test was done.

Also thanks to Gordon, Matt, Chris, Brad and Scott for there tremendous help and support, sorry lads but it's not just the outside of the car that needs cleaning !!!!!!
